INSPECTIONS

Once a building consent has been issued, inspections need to be undertaken to ensure things are being installed properly and a code compliance certificate is issued at the end of a job.

Inspections can also be required by insurance companies to prove that the project complies with the building regulations.

The inspectors also monitor dangerous or insanitary buildings and water seepages on private land. They also monitor building warrants of fitness and these generally apply only to commercial or public premises and cover fire safety, drinking water quality and emergency exits.
